I participated in Hafensafari 5 in August 2007. The event site used to be a leisure centre for local residents until it was bombed during WWII. Following this tragic incident, the soil of the site became contaminated with oil. Now, the site is enclosed with fences, forming a large restricted area. My intention was to transform this area into a harmonious place.
My project, Wishing Forest, was created by visitors of Hafensafari 5. They were invited to write their wishes on papers provided by their tour guide, and to attach them on the trees. The action succeeded in creating the forest of wishes - individuals' expression of life. During three weeks of the event period, the forest gradually expanded. With 3,000 wishes, the area was transformed into a peaceful world by the end of the event.
